How do I listen to music? For me, my qualifications are 3 things: lyric content, musicality and the most important one – SONG STORY. In worship songs, I believe that there’s more to it than proclaiming gospel lyrics and good vibes. It’s about the GOOD NEWS of the love of God in our lives and the AWESOME LOVE STORY of a Savior who died a beautiful death so we can reconciled with the Father who loved us first. It will never be about cheesy lyrics nor upbeat tunes, it’s the matter of the heart that wants to reach out to people. And that’s how the Filipino worship team Victory Worship wants to present to a lot of people.
As they released their new 3rd straight digital single “Beautiful Love,” Victory Worship aims to be true to their purpose of leading people towards “missional worship” to God through the Jesus Christ. This worship song is the follow-up ballad to its No.1 worship anthem, “Safe” which sung by Isa Fabregas.
“Beautiful Love” was written by Victory Worship member Lee Simon Brown with Every Nation Music songwriters Franklin Asuncion, Moira dela Torre (the singer behind the song “Malaya”), James Murrell, and Kensho Yo. The song takes inspiration from 1 John 4:10, which says,
“. . . true love is God’s love for us, not our love for God. He sent his Son as the way to take away our sins . . . ” (ERV).
By combining the passion of Christ to take on a punishment He did not deserve, so that we may receive salvation that we did not earn. Taking inspiration from “Beautiful Love” makes the declaration that the kind of love that moved Jesus to take on this ultimate sacrifice, can only be described as beautiful.
As of now, this song is now no.1 at iTunes Philippines after their other new songs “Safe” and “Awit ng Bayan” released. This marks a good response in our Filipino music industry, as we launched our own worship songs not just in the Philippines but also around the world.
We,Filipinos do know how to make beautiful songs. And not only that, we know how to make it meaningful and epic. Just like this Filipino worship band, “Victory Worship” has released their new song that will definitely define “missional worship” more and hope to create more impact to the hearts of people.
On the heels of UNASHAMED, the Every Nation Campus 2017 Conference, they launched the song “For Your Purpose” as part of their crown initiative to reach out more people to the Gospel of Jesus Christ through their worship songs that is relevant and heartfelt.
Inspired by the Bible verse in Jeremiah 1:5, which says,
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
“For Your Purpose” is Victory Worship’s third digital single for 2017, following the Filipino-language song “Awit ng Bayan” and the worship ballad, “Safe.”
Written by Victory group member Lee Brown with Every Nation songwriters Sarah Bulahan, Erika Murrell, and Jose Villanueva III (also known as Quest), this inspiring uptempo praise anthem positions worshipers’ hearts to living out God’s purposes in their lives. “For Your Purpose” encourages believers to stay secure in their identity in Jesus, reminding them that God knows who we are and loves us most.
With this new song, I believe that more than just giving us good song to hear, it will compel more people to grow more with their relationship with God. And since the outcry of their worship band is “Missional Worship,” this song will encourage you to indeed live according to the purpose that God sets on you.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be HEALED. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
– James 5:16 (NIV)
“Do you want to be well?” (John 5:5-7) Jesus asked the man who is sick for 38 years. And despite his desperation to receive healing, hesitation sinks deep and didn’t realize that Jesus wants to heal him. As believers, we sometimes have the same problem similar to the sick man. We know that Jesus can heal us but we don’t have the audacity to claim it heartily. And we believers often see our faith as a “survival weapon” for our daily living. But Jesus wants us to have powerful lives, to do signs and wonders in His name and proclaim that even in this generation, extraordinary healing can happen.
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” – 1 Peter 2:24
The Philippines is considered as a “Christian Capital Country” in Asia and despite that, many of our Filipino people are not yet sold out to the truths and power that only the Bible can give. It’s easy to say that we believe in miracles and healing, but practicing it and claiming it in Jesus’ name is another story. In this present generation, how can you claim healing for your sick relatives? and how about you, how can you be an INSTRUMENT for the Lord to bring healing?
That’s why last July 30, “Church So Blessed Ministries” called the believers of Christ from different Churches and Ministries to come be equipped to become #ArmyOfHealers in a Healing Conference 2016 at Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City. Led by their Senior Pastor Hiram Paningilan and other pastor speakers, every believer inside the astrodome was equipped, imparted and filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit to bring healing and deliverance for everyone who in need.
The event was started with an electrifying, powerful praise and worship. Together with some friends from the body of Christ, the excitement and hunger of the people towards worship was so tangible, surrendered their lives to Jesus as we sink deeper to the worship.
The 8-sessions workshop and equipping about healing was anointed and founded from scriptures (that makes it more reliable and trustworthy). It was clearly presented and effectively by the speakers (with the twist of humor and stories). The anointing power of the Holy Spirit was filled in every believer and I was just amazed by what I saw and witnessed.
More than an equipping session, I witnessed people received healing from ordinary believers (not pastors) and declared healing to each other. People are getting out of their wheelchairs, sickness and diseases are instantly removed from people’s body and victory was claimed in Jesus’ name. I realized that these gifts are not limited to the pastors and neither to the only chosen people. I was also one of the people who can testify through this power. Some people I prayed for healing after the conference was healed and I was amazed that even though I’m not a pastor nor a missionary, I can still pray and declare healing in Jesus’ name.
Just in, few days after the conference, more and more people are experiencing miracles upon miracles because God is in the midst of them and He is the ONE who empowered His people to minister healing for people. Many things have spoken to me and more than just receiving the gift, the intimacy I have with the Lord became stronger and powerful. And you don’t need to be religious and do a lot of rituals to have it. “JESUS PERIOD!”: that is your key and He alone can bring more than just salvation
So going back to the question: “Do you want to be well?” and “do you want to be used by God to declare healing for His people?” be part of the #ArmyofHealers and believe that YOU TOO can do miraculous healing for His glory, for His name. Let the ARMY OF HEALERS RISE UP!
The LORD protects and preserves them— they are counted among the blessed in the land— he does not give them over to the desire of their foes. The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness. -Psalm 41:2-3
I love watching cartoons when I was a kid. And a lot of kids at their age loves to do the same way as well. It gives us that thrill and excitement to be whatever we want to be in our imaginary world. It also gives us the freedom to be joyful and enthusiast in everything around us, despite of the negative vibes of our surroundings.
As a kid, one of the cartoons that I really love to watch (until now as an adult) are “Superbooks” and “The Flying House” that I usually watched every afternoon. The concept and stories of these shows really inspire me as a kid to be like the characters. More than that, the stories of the Bible and knowing the Living God is what really inspires me to watch more of these shows.
Now that I’m an adult, saved by the grace of God, I still believe to the power of the message of these show that I would love to share with my students, especially with my children and grandchildren someday.
Last year, ABS-CBN Network launched the comeback of one of the most memorable Christian-cartoon show of all time. “Superbooks” came with a better digital animation and a broader concept about the stories of the Bible and the life of Jesus Christ. And because of that, a lot of children from today’s generation are learning and being mold by the Gospel of salvation of God. Which is really awesome because most of the young generation today, don’t know these things anymore. And more than teaching it at school alone, parents should have the responsibility to know and decide what is suitable for their children to watch. And good thing that these shows represent more than just good moral lessons but How God loves His people like us.
In addition for the airing of “Superbook” at ABS-CBN, the other classic Christian-anime from CBN Asia “The Flying House” is now showing at ABS-CBN together with the “Superbook”. Yes, you read that right. Everyone’s favorite children’s anime series, “The Flying House,” is back!
“We want to bless the children of the Philippines with the Word of God through animation that’s why we are re-airing ‘The Flying House.’ It has blessed millions of people from the ‘80s and there is a new generation now that can also be blessed by it,” said John Tan, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of CBN Asia, Inc. “The gospel can be quite difficult for children to understand,” Tan continued, “but through animation which is one of the easiest forms of media that children can watch, today’s generation can really be more attuned to God’s Word. May it be the light that guides them as they grow up,” he added.
For the showing launch of “The Flying House” at ABS-CBN, plus the 1st anniversary of “Superbook” as a Kapamilya, CBN Asia, Inc., in partnership with ABS-CBN Network celebrates with all the “Batang Superbook” with the event, “Fly High Adventures for All Time”which happened last July 19, at the activity center of Market! Market!, BGC Taguig City.
Kids and kids at heart from all walks of life reminised once again, as the event gave the participants, especially the adult ones a nostalgic vibe, remembering their own “Superbook and The Flying House” days.
More than just superbooks and flying house activities for the kids, the event also entertained the crowd with the live performances of some kapamilya stars from The Voice of the Philippines alumni and artists.
The event, more than just to celebrate a milestone, is aiming to encourage the public to make these shows as a weekend habit for the family and let the children learn more about the importance of reading the Bible and live in the ways of God.
“The Flying House” is a children’s anime series produced by the Christian Broadcasting Network and airs every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. on ABS-CBN and back to back with Superbook Reimagined every Sunday, 9:30 a.m.
